Collections Statute of Limitations
Income tax liabilities to the IRS have an expiration date! The IRS has no duty to tell you that, or when the debt “expires,” but NTC will. This can assist us in negotiating the best program, and save you the most money.
The IRS is legally prohibited from collecting expired back taxes. The IRS has 10 years to collect back taxes from you – after that point your tax debt expires. However, there are caveats and NTC can check on the status of your debts and whether or not expiration is a valid option for discharging your tax debt.
